Just wondering how best to target clicks for adsense, is it better to add the targeted keywords to your meta tags, mention the targeted keywords alot on the site in the content .... or both?? thanks!!
For adsense, best is to have your keywords in your content. Having them in meta tags also helps, but that could work against you sometimes. I had one site that was showing totally irrelevant ads on it, and if I tweaked the keywords in the meta tag, things started to work fine. There is always the option to target your content for the adsense ads, using the tags provided by google. something like <!--adsense_target--> . I don't know exactly how it is, better to go to google and find out. But, if you have good content, and a lot of good keywords in it, with time the ads adjust themselves, so no need for that targeting thing.
LOL, oh come one, why should THIS thread be any different than the countless other threads here on DP that make no sense whatsoever! IantT...that wasn't directed at you, the thread kinda went south with John's post above. In answer to your question, I have to say content is more important. Many crawlers don't even bother with Meta tags. One reason being that they've been abused in the past as a means of keyword stuffing a page in hopes of getting better ads. I occasionally use the meta tags but for the most part I just make sure my content is what I mean it to be about.
lol i know it wasnt toward me lol... no worries, i dont understand why people post things like he did lol.. (makes my brain hurt), Thank yo uso much for your reply though~!! Im going to re-write some of my pages to try and do some better keyworkd targeting and see what happens .. the main reason I asked this is because I notice that say, for the huge banner ad thing, google pretty much only displays ads for like 3 companies on my site... can get boring after a while lol
Please don't spread misinformation if you have no clue what you are talking about. Keywords on the page are more important then the meta keyword tag, which has been pretty much rendered usless. This is not to suggest that you should be keyword stuffing in the content, just write naturally and include the targeted keywords a few times on the page.
thank you for your reply ! Much appreciated! and I agree... I feel like I have to sift through so many people who seem to not know what theyre talking about... so its good to have people like you and adpub helping me out
No worries mate, I am here to help. Don't forget that the meta description tag is important to encourage clicks in the serps.
lol calm down you girl. the site in my avatar is not my site. you said that "Nothing really matters at all; except your domain". the domain name is one of MANY factors which influence rankings, so to state that nothing else matters when it comes to seo is being ignorant and completely false. get yourself an exact match domain for a competitive keyword, and tell me if you get a #1 ranking based on the domain name alone.
and to a noob like me i need lots of info.... so I need Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeveryones input...and appreciate noooo drama... just want to learn
I said competitive, not micro niche keywords which are incredibly easy to rank for. When you start targeting more competitive phrases, other factors begin to have greater importance.
