What marketing should I use to increase sales?

    Hi All,

First post here, seems like there is a lot of information on here!

I want to increase the amount of sales on my website.

"Abbey Chemicals" is the website I run and we get a few sales & use google adwords.

I am currently page rank 3 and think increasing page rank may help.

I have a few websites, they only ever seem to get to page rank 3!

Any ideas and suggestions would be great.

I post in forums / business directories... haven't really gone into link exchange but think this may help.

    Thanks,

    Tom

I assume you are meaning about affiliate site you owned and not direct product selling. I will sum it short

    1. Google Adwords may not be the best way to drive traffics. It is depends on individual experiences and most the times advertisers are failed to made revenue covering the expenses.
    2. You can get relevant and targeted traffics by posting in relevant forums. I meant specific niche forum, blog, directory and more. Not only backlinks you would get but a possible convert traffics may pour in.
    3. Pagerank has nothing to do with website value and trust, not from visitors nor search engines neither. It has a little but to do with your website ranking. If you are worrying about sales and conversion ratio then focus on traffics, ranking and not solely on pagerank

Many ways. If its to do with sale then I assume you would want to spend some money to get them.

    1) Google Adwords
    2) Facebook
    3) Create Landing Pages
    4) Try to boost website traffic overtime, this will increase your sales.
    5) Make use of SEO.
    6) Promote your product among your circle of friends and forums you may post on.

    Hi,

You want traffic that converts (= sales), not just traffic. You need to make a list of all the keywords people are likely to use when they are search for the exact things you sell. That is, it won't do you much good to be # in Google for the term "Abbey Chemicals" if you are trying to attract new customers that have not yet heard of your business name - they are not going to search for that term. Get some niche sites done for relevant buying keywords that then direct to your main site. Eg, "wholesale cleaning chemicals" or whatever.

Ask yourself where your market is and go there.
Ask yourself what your market is like and deliver. Are these people that need to feel they can trust where they buy something? If so, make sure your site is ultra-professional looking., etc.

Write articles and direct them back to your website to create backlinks... plus have an optin forum so you can collect people's e-mail address so you can start creating a list. Whatever you are giving away in exchange for their e-mail address make sure it provides value. Develope a relationship with your list so you gain trust so in the future you will sell to them over and over again..

    Hey Tom--

Congratulations on taking action to fix your problem.

There are SOOO many ways to go about this... first place I'd start is where you already have momentum.

Start with what's working for you so far... what is your biggest traffic source? Where are the people who DO buy coming from?

    Sales = Traffic * Conversion

You're either having a traffic problem (not getting enough) or a Conversion problem (not selling well).

Your web stats will tell you which one.

Do link exchange with your niche related websites/blogs, worth much more than creating backlink in traditional way. Google marks some site as authority site, if you can get backlink from those site this will be better for your site ranking.

Firstly get an autoresponder account, aweber or get response are the two top, then set up an opt in form on your download or thank you page promising something relevant if they sign up "leave your email to get information about discounts" for example. Have another optin on your main pages and promise them something downloadable if they leave their email. People have to see an advantage for themselves to give you their email address.

Create Backlinks like the signature underneath my post, most of the forums that I post on have signature functions and a good page ranking. Forums and blogs are always a good way to do this. Your page rank will rise after a while but you will find that you rise up the google ranks for your choosen keyword. Just make sure you link the keywords from the forum that you are using on your website.

I'm currently going the adwords route and have found with limited ability that if i run my adwords after 8pm weekdays I get more traffic - might be due to my specific sites products but it seems to be working for me and also found the adwords seem to be more cost effective running at night - have a look at my site over at allforme.com.au and see what you think. I paid to have it set up properly and it's making sales, I think in the eCOmmerce market I quickly found I couldn't do it myself - at some point you have to sit down and spend to get a good design team to execute your plan otherwise you end up looking like every other virtuemart or joomla commerce site out there, and bottom line is, if it doesn't look professional then i honestly think people won't buy from you. You've got to look like you mean to make that sale!
