Hi guys, i own a social video networking site (that pays its users) but over the last 4 months or so I only have 330 users and 1700 videos. I am getting around 350-40UVs per day and 800 page views a day most from google video search - any ideas how i can get more visitors? Any more importantly how these can be converted into signups and uploaders?
I would set up an affiliate system, if you haven't already. Affiliating a site might really get it going as you do not have to do all the promotion yourself. Get the members something for their effort...if you can't afford to pay them, give them a free solo-ad to all members for every 5th signup or something Think about it. How would 330 users promoting your site affect the signup rate? All you have to do is make the promotional material (solo ads, splash pages, banners). When it comes to making people active, there should be some good incentives for uploading as well...how about a video rotator or something on the first page, making sure their video is getting views. Or maybe a competition for most popular vids? Just some thoughts to get your own ideas to start flowing as well Warmest regards, Victor P.S. I tried to run a video on your site and it take a long time to load. This might discourage people to join, so you should look into approving this.
I belive some kind of campain where a lucky viewer will win a play station 3 or something along the lines of this to get page views up even more. orrrrr for your current members and new members the chance to win $1000 with a random number picker they can fill in aka ###### correct number 56789 when that gets enterd they win the 1k. anything like this will be a great help to your sites u.v and r.v Many thanks for your time.
Running a contest or the affiliate thing are both great ideas. I have used both and with giving out free information or a chance to win something people are more likely to check it out but may not stick around. They are there just for the contest or free item. SO this is what you use for CPA offers etc to bring traffic in. But I would use affiliate's with your site since your looking for people to come and stay awhile. my 2 cents
Try to mix and match the marketing options the others already suggested. Also try to add into your marketing mix things like e-mailing people about it (make sure they are interested in your product or they'll consider as spam), joining related forums, and if you have the funds, advertise. Once you have the list of a marketing mix, test, test and test. See which ones work and those that don't. Once you find out which methods work, focus on that. Oh and it may take some time too to see the effects of your marketing campaign so stick with it. Good luck!
I would try a nationwide advertising campaign - newspapers are good but you could try TV if you can afford it? Maybe advertise your competition within the campaign
Why not market it like you would any other site? Do what we all know already works. Article marketing, PPC.....etc. Then, mix in some of the ideas that have previously been posted. Good Luck, raycer
What you need to do is find niche related communities, blogs and forums and make your presence known. Be resourceful, announce contests etc.. In order to drive successful traffic to a social network you need to be social yourself, and on a daily basis for the first 6 months to a year. Give a little, get a little.. give a lot, get a lot...
If possible, attach your brand mark (like web url or something) to those videos (don't know how, but if it's possible, do it)... or have an embedded player that will point to your site (so anytime somebody links to your video, he also links to your site). As for signups... make sure it's bloody easy and takes little effort. Offer some sort of bonus for those who sign-up. Create a referral program and give people incentives to invite their friends too. Consider starting up a newsletter (simple email collection) so you can remind people to come back when there's something useful in your site. Try some of these tactics to generate traffic And... have good luck. That's always needed
