I think that originally it was the tools that brought people in...

Now, I think this place has developed a bit of a reputation for being very relaxed and generally a great place to go...

I rarely go elsewhere nowadays because the other forums just don't compare...

Congrats Shawn - you have clearly done a fantastic job :)

Here are the reasons why i visit this site (maybe it can help you in users perspective):

    1.) The Tools
    2.) The knowledge
3.) The People (yes including those childish posters)
    4.) The Shared Revenue

The lay-out is very good too. Those ugly fora where the avatar and all crap is in a table column left of the post makes you scroll for miles.

Ya, its because we have the Anthonycea that everyone else banned! He needs to start his own site by name www.anthonycea.com or get a free one www.anthonycea.info

TOP30 - your messing up the poor calendar! BTW what is a coal tip?

I didn't mess up the calendar. Well, at least I tried to add some interesting date related information. My sheep I'm herding messed it up :)

I just picked two events and that one was quite a shocker. Not being too familiar with mining myself, I can't give you a good answer but I guess it's a huge tipper-trailer kind of thing, probably on a train or something.

There is no "secret"... I mainly just wanted a forum that I could use for support on the tools and our commercial products. And the forum I used normal before for SEO stuff had gotten to the point of so many ads that it made using the forum 10x slower than it should be. I'm still a moderator there, but it's really hard to moderate a forum when the owners themselves don't care, makes moderators feel like "What's the point?".

Yep that forum got "messed up badly" and thankyou Shawn for the one here. [I do not know why you stay there as a moderator!]

What I do like here is the technical side from everybody - it is good and is given freely from and to.

Whatever your level sometimes you do get "headlocked" and it is useful for an outside opinion. :)

The majority of members here are friendly and VERY helpful (even Anthony :D) compared to the last SEO forum I frequented (same site shawn moderates) and the forum is not riddled with advertising.

What I like the most though are the tweaks Shawn makes, ie. Adsense, blog feed etc

Yep, he's getting more and more people every day. I think Shawn said last week that he's getting on average 6 new people a day.

Off-topic yet to do with Shawn: What happend to sendwu.com? I noticed you're using a different domain now without redirecting the other one. Is that nice PR (while looking up the PR I noticed you have redirected it now, unlike how it was this afternoon... Never mind) going to waste?

Just out of interest, did you change it because of SEO reasons or is WU still giving you hassle every now and then, perhaps forcing it to change? I guess your rankings are all screwed up. I was just wondering what went on after reading your blogs and clicking some links.
