    You need a well built website, to make all of your content accesible, you need lots of content for your website to be useful to people, and you need decent marketting for youre website to be found by your visitors...

    All in all you need all three to make a website successful.

    As I have no vast experience in website making but i think first of all content, the primary need of any website, then its design and finally marketing.
