Hello fellow DPers, just wanting some of your expert advise. What exactly are the key elements to a good converting squeeze page? I've been messing around with squeeze pages a bit and thought I'd get some tips. Thanks.
Yes, keep it simple. And use bullet points, big headlines, nice images (and a video if you have). Everything should be directly related to what you're selling.
All these things are great. I was kind of wanting to know more of the copywriting side of it. Any input on that?
I actually have a post about a few great copywriting and sales page products on my blog. But I'll just throw some things out there: Make sure your sentences are short, simple, and to the point. Your copy should be easy to read. Everyone word is important. Any that are not important should be left out. Grab your potential customer's attention with a great headline. ("9-year old kid makes $399,789.89 in one year and makes his parents quit their dayjob!" "The Secret Big Companies Don't Want You to Know to Save Money" "Three Reasons You Will Get RIPPED from the P90X workout!") A javascript countdown timer. (9:42 until this offer expires. Enter your email address to secure a spot!) Barring anything specific, the only other real advice I have is to study other people's squeeze pages. Pay attention to the colors, everything in a non-standard text weight, the headlines, the grouping of words, and in what order each thought is approached. (In other words, what question would the readers be asking themselves and how can you answer it?) Remember that your ultimate goal is to help your potential customer. If you can satisfy this, you'll probably have good copy.
It also depends on the product/sevice you are promoting. Depending on the product goes the salespage. Some needs more bulletpoints, some would convert better if you add a video. Check the competence and see what works, and make it BETTER. What I did back when I started was to study a lot about human reactions and psychological motivations. If you know how to get in peoples mind, and give them what they unconsciously want, you just sold another one...
A good squeeze page is the one, where you show your visitors the benefits of your products as quickly as possible. Usually video would work great. Also don't forget to get their email by offering them free products, such as eBooks and even trials.
SamFrankly84 in his examples above put his headlines in quotations. I have heard that it is always a good thing to do.
We run a Real Estate website and we have been focusing on compelling videos and simple sign up forms, usually just their name and email. The conversion rate drops substantially when we require a phone number.
