What makes a good sales page?

I'm going to be attempting my first run at a clickbank product in the near future and was hoping to get some tips and tricks on what makes a really good sales page.

Does anybody have any good guidelines/tips for what works? Can you reference any sites that convert extremely well for you so I can see examples?

    Thanks :)

No one will tell you what is converting for them, that is a eternal quest on clickbank :)

Take a look through the clickbank top 50 vendors in terms of gravity - take a look at their sales pages, identify commonalities and things they share and see what will work for you:

Don'tt copy, but take what you like and make it yours - innovate it.

You could also just do some searches for "sales page template" "sales letter template"

That will depend on the niche you're going to be promoting --

Again, a high gravity doesn't all mean the product converts well,

I personally found that the products with the highest gravity in clickbank not only have poor conversion rates/ they also have high refund rates. The answer is somewhere in middle. You need to see what works for yourself.

Here are just two examples of products that I would personally avoid promoting like hell -
They're in the top 5 list by the way.

    PeopleSearchAffiliates.com: #1 For Over 2 Years
    Refund Rate 40.04%

The Magic Of Making Up (Get Your Ex Back)
    Refund Rate 9.33%

Not because it's my direct competitor, but because I personally promoted The Magic of Making Up and had a refund rate of over 30%.

The data above is from cbengine.com.

Ah correct, yes, maybe don't use that data to pick products to promote, but.. in terms of picking sales pages to get ideas from it is a good start, they must convert to some level to be there... better to look towards the top 50 than to hover around the middle ground making your own assumptions on what sells and what doesn't if you don't have the actual experience of selling it..

Doesn't matter what the refund rates are to him, he just wants the solid sales page - the refund rate is more to do with the product - a poor product / broken promises from the sales page..

The problem is looking at sites with high gravity is that gravity can easily be inflated and isn't a good representation of how good a sales page is.

It's in the travel niche. I don't want to say much more about the product specifically because it's going to be a few weeks before I can launch it lol.

I would say the best way to measure the effect of the sales page is to see if after reading through the page, would You want to buy it. Some general things to look for are: a call to action above the fold, good graphics, video proof, high gravity, good reviews on internet marketing forums, etc.

A good sales page is in simple words that gives full information about the product to the customer making him buy from the sales page without even having to read a review about the product elsewhere on the net.
