ALTER2EGO -to- RIKSWORLD: A good script and good actors are what make a good film, in my opinion. If the script is lousy (meaning the story line is not convincing), even the best actors will not be able to make it work. A good script should be about things that ordinary people can relate to, and it should have at least a few characters with sympathetic qualities. If all the characters are rotten to the core, it's a turn-off for me.
A good movie is one which has a strong script, a good plot, good actors does not matter if they are big names or not, Background score, And good special effects....
Story and relative ,natural direction can make a good movie. Excess acting, non expert artist, raw and bad direction can destroy a movie by destroying story. Actually success of a movie fully depends on director.
Originality and cinematography are the obvious ones, but one that I think a lot of people miss is good editing. If a movie doesn't flow right, I'm not able to suspend my disbelief and I start seeing the actors instead of the characters.
I think the story, the character, and actor also actress are some of point to make a good movie. Of course the story of movie is the main point.
Personally I like Kubrick's style of movies. Except eyes wide shut I love all of his movies because he mixes everything from funny moments, drama and sick psycho stuff. I also like Quentin Tarantino's movies very much, things like "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction" for me are considered as cult movies with no age(they were also very low budget). One day I'd really like to see a mix of the two, it should be like the sickest best thing I'll ever see And yeah I consider all the new Hollywood movies as expensive rehashed stories marketed very well.
