Let me summarize what I think you are saying and implying. There are lots of dreamers in the domain name speculation game. A game with a continuously revolving door where entry is propagated by unrealistic visions of turning lead into gold. There are also two distinct leagues in the game. The "players" and the "pretender wannabes" . . . . The players understand that a valuable domain name is like a piece of land, there is only one. The pretender wannabes think that because they have found a cool sounding domain name for reg fee that there is someone out there somewhere that will pay a long dollar for it simply because it sounds cool . . . . (how am I doing so far?)

A great deal of what we see in user forums are the pretender wannabes slowly coming to the realization that to make real money, real money must be invested.

If I have summarized correctly, I think we fundamentaly agree.

Man, I wish I could summarize my own points that well:)
Yes. that is what is going on.
Like I said before, do you know how many times/months/years , went by with me saying, "So do you really think everyone will have a computer? Really?"
It makes me sick to my stomach to think about it.
