I appreciate that business websites server many purposes. Some sell things online, some provide information and valuable resources. Most business these days have a presence on the internet which got me thinking about what I like in a website and its design. I like an interesting home page and a well structured and easy to navigate menu. The site should not be too confusing and lead me to enter further into the site. What are your favourite business websites? I do not mean a blog or your own personal site. What do you think is a good example of how a site should look? What functions should it have and why? What layout works well for businesses?
well its a vast topic. in short your design must have attraction, no broken links, no spell mistakes, reliable and easy payment gateway can help you allot
My favorite should qualify these factors:nice layoutã€strong functionã€good navigate barã€and quick loading. What's more,I also pay attention to its domain name-whether it's catchy or not.
Amazon.com is pretty damn good for a retail site. Easy navigation, almost anything you want to buy, reviews, product discussion forum, easy payment flow, good customer support, 24/7 support, affiliate programs that help their sales, and I am sure I am forgetting a few things. Very hard to beat them except with prices.
There's a few things that most people always try to adhere to in their designs, regardless of what type of website it is: #1: Easy Navigation (get people where they want to go as quickly and as effeciently as possible) #2: Tell them what you offer (the general rule of thumb is that people need to know what your website is about within 7 seconds of hitting enter on their keyboard after typing in the URL or clicking on a URL (therefore load time is a factor on the website)) #3: Easy to Read (stick to Arial and Verdana fonts, nothing smaller than 12. Try to use 18px or larger line-height when possible) #4: Limit the images (Goes along with my note above on load time, but keep all images as gifs if at all possible. This will keep load times down) #5: A consistent color theme (Perhaps my own petpeeve, but most good looking websites stick to a color scheme of 3 colors, never more than 4.) Hopefully the above will help a few people! I'm sure there are more, but these are the initial things that came to mind.
