What major Google Adwords/Adsense shifts have we seen?

I've been using Adwords and Adsense for about 3 years now and have seen a general improvement trend on both sides. There have been major shifts in the last six months that needed to be adjusted for like content/search ads and smart pricing. After about 3 months of work, I think I've gotten back to where I was before I started seeing "Inactive for search" in Adwords. I had to separate out campaigns by regions and improved ad copy, all good stuff, but lots of work.

Other than the occasional PR update or Google dance, what changes have we seen besides that advent of separating bids for search and content and smart pricing?

Yes, site targeting. I found that to not be a big impact on my Adsense revenue and it did give me a little bit of lower cost traffic. I spent a few hours on it. Did you feel much of an affect?

Yes, more on the AdWords side of the fence than the Adsense side of the fence.

I have put in some time selecting a bunch of related sites for CPM and then weeding out the non-producers. It's hard to see on the adsense side how I am effected since CPM is buried in the eCPM along with the clickthrough revenue.

Me too - seems top be the best way to work with AdWords CPM campaigns so far.
