So my question is simple, which link should you advertise on directories or should you give to other website to get higher rank or PR on google? Should you give your website link with or without the "www."? Or does it matter? Please advise.
    thanks :)

The link with "www." is the standard link. This is the best practice to link.

It doesn't matter in my opinion. :) I suggest you just focus to one URL, it can be either with www or without.

No, they are not the same. You have to be concerned about spreading your backlinks across the non-WWW and WWW version of your domain.

The issue is what is called Canonical URLs and should be addressed with 301-redirections.

thats right, Cbrooker made the right point, what you need to do first is to redirect the non www to the www version, and from then on yuo go and make links to the www version.

The Google Webmasters Tools allows you to set the preference for your domains that you manage and then ensure that you use 301-redirects to point them all to either the non-www or www version.

This way, even if someone links to the non-www version, the 301-redirect (permanently moved) ensures that the www version gets the link juice ... this is important for ranking correctly.

right on, as long as one is 301 redirected to the other then it doesn't matter.
