Is your PHP Link Directory any relation to this PHP Link Directory:

    http://www.netcreated.com/php_link_directory.php

Aside from the product name being the same, some of the web page text seemed identical:

    No, not at all.
I own netcreated as well. The software has been so successful that I decided to create a domain for it.

Now for trivia: Can you name the artist who wrote the Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song? :)

Well, that is good to hear!

I will remove one of the entries from the FAQ.

There are now only 36 web directory scripts listed in the FAQ. Wowza. That's a competitive market.

Did B.J. Thomas write it, or just perform it?

I'm not an expert in this stuff, but you'd have to dump the data from the source database into some type of delimited file. Then massage the data so that it matched the file layout of the new database and load it.

I've never seen a database that you couldn't export or import data from/to in one way or another. Forinstance if there is no export functionality just print the data to a file rather than the printer.

Thanks for this info. That is what I am planning to do and you are right on approach.

May be I should explain it a bit more. What I am looking at is after the messaging how the data should look like.

    1) For eg, I can create a csv file, but what should be the structure.
    2) Also, in case of phplink, the database is in mySQL format, that could be inserted through sql query. What should be that SQL query could be, or what are the precaution could be taken. As it would insert data into multiple tables.

The help I need is, once I have a csv file as per desired format, can I run script that would insert records into the phplinkdirectory mySQL tables. Running separete insert queries could be messy at times.

I will provide FREE (as in beer) support in moving over to phplinkdirectory.com.
All you have to do is PM me your email address, and we can make arrangements.

I just got done making some arrangements with a text link company for those of you that would like to make some extra money on your directory. That will be released shortly after 2.0 comes out (which should be today for RC1).

Oh...and there is now an option to show the pagerank of all links too.
I'm thinking of creating my own directory of all my sites, so I can easily see the pagerank of all of them at once. :)

I have done this link importing and exporting with LinksManager.com and Arelis and both are extremely easy to do as well as done efficiently. Not all of our clients are with hosts that will accept php which is a problem with the php systems, obviously.
