I say its all about the Macbook. Mine does everything i need it to for website development. The only reason i could see getting a PC is to play video games, but you can run XP on Macbooks now. People always praise my Macbook when im doing work on it @ school. It gets a lot more attention than you would expect.
I have never personally used ACER. But a couple of my friends have got acer and they are not really happy about. You know sometimes a brand never appeals to you and you get a certain image of them in your head. Thats the case with acer and me.
This may be of interest: http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-10233-1.html But remember there's lies, damn lies and statistics
Been using an acer for the past 1.5 years and never had any problems with it , would certainly recommend it
Hi CCD, thanks for sharing the website. Personally, I don't really trust the statistics shown on the website. Lol...
My sony works wonderfully. The best place to find out is go to Amazon.com and read customer reviews. If a product has >20 reviews, you will get a very good idea of how good the product is and what are teh problems. Read the rare criticisms as well -- especially if they come from people who seem to know MORE.
I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 that has worked well for me, however in order to do any memory exchange on one of the memory slots you either need to take it into a service center, or void your warranty. If you get one, pay a little extra to get all of your memory in that one un-serviceable slot so that you can expand later without wasting some of it, or worrying about your Warranty. Also, if you rest your hands on the laptop frame, it has a risk of cracking near the latch points, and the area holding the LCD screen cracked a little. I also got a loose "P" key several years into owning it, but I bought it quite a while ago, and it is still fully functional, and works very well. The power supply and mother board also had a problem, but it cropped up within the manufacturer’s warranty, and Dell took care of me marvelously. My brother got a wonderful Dell from their refurbished product department, which had never even been shipped out to a customer due to a canceled order. Wonderful price on a brand new piece of equipment, be sure to check out that area if you look at getting a Dell, but be warned that if you wait on those deals, they may disappear. IF you don't find any deals there, Dell also has education and government discounts, in case that applies. Two of my Co-workers have some wonderful HP computers with wide screen. One of them got a versatile TV tuner and remote control unit with his laptop. He runs Linux on it, and has run several versions of windows without problems. It's a DV8230. (It says DV8000 on it, but that's the general line). He hasn't had any problems with it so far.
Hi Josh Inno, thank you for the post. Seems that Dell has been a good brand for you and your brother.
They definitely have been. Another added benifit of having my Inspiron is that every time Samantha Carter pops open her laptop on Stargate SG1, I get to grin over having at least the same case as she does. ^_^ Anyway, yes, Dell has been good to me thus far, and if I decide to buy another pre-built laptop, I will likely be looking at them, and hp... though I may also give apple a look see since they decided to build a system that can run my preffered OSs, and they seem to have a good focus on media.
Apple Macbook hands down. Been a PC guy for over 12 years, but decided to try a Mac. Havent looked back since.
Oh my gosh, you're right!!! Yeah, I knew that. I was just letting him know, in case he didn't know about the direct linking block and wanted to put a copy on a photobucket account or the like. I didn't even know I could get new nipples on warrenty. *sniff*
