If you want to learn programming, you may want to begin with either C/C++ or Java. These are basically considered as the backbone of programming, so I suggest that you build a strong foundation there.

In my point of view,at first every programing listener should learn HTML.Because I think it the prime step for learning program.Them it can be learned some step such asHP,CSS,C/C++.JavaScript,MySQL and so forth.
Christ how many of these threads is the forum going to tolerate? There should be a sticky to end these questions.
To design front end you need HTML/CSS/Javascript...etc To do more interesting things you need a scripting language such as php.
If you need too fast site php is the best. But this is my suggestion only, you can use it according to your choice.
Hahahahahaa i stepped into this thread thinking you were talking about english, spanish etc... PHP is the way to go. Lots of things you could do online for yourself or for others By the way I would certainly learn chinese $$$$ They're coming our way like we wouldn't believe !!! Huge market !!!!
Perhaps it would be better that you describe in detail your application ideas as they will help us better to decide what you should learn. Programming is not easy. It requires a lot of time, patience, insight and determination. When I say time, I mean years. Learning Java is not an overnight feat. It's not just the language that you have to learn, configuration is often the greatest nightmare. Say you decide that you want to be a multimedia guru, well there are many options alone in that area which stands as only a portion of web development work. Institutions like Amazon et al have a large number of developers, working in a variety of software disciplines to help pull together a stable site. Consider an already made site like WordPress to learn on.
