    Hi guys,
I am interested in learning a web programming language. What language do you recommend me to learn? Which language is most powerful?

    Thx

There are many options depending on what you want to do...

PHP - lots of free scripts so easy to get running quickly but not used much in the commercial world

.Net - less free scripts, arguably "more powerful" than PHP but PHP can be improved with a number of add ons. Is also used in application development which may be a benefit

JSP/ Java - very similar to .Net but much more used in financial services etc and much more limited free scripts/ info

CFM - personally not a fan and doesnt seem to be going anywhere

Python/ RoR - dont know much about them. Is some thinking they will get ever more popular so may be a time to get in early?

You will read complaints about every language and the majority of the time it is from people who arent experts. Each one naturally has its own strengths and weakenesses too.

If there are specific concerns then you can always list them and let people address them.
