I was wondering, what kinda forums are doing good these days in terms of SERP traffic.

I already made a warez forum to test the waters but would like some more insight.

makes sense, especially if the niche you pick does`nt have a lot of forums.

Good place to start would be Googles adwords keyword tool

Do some searches fro niches and see what the monthly search volume is for your chosen niche, and then look for forums related to it, if there is`nt many then you found yourself a good niche to start in.

Forums that do well are those that have an already established traffic base. In order to do that you first need to develop traffic at a website or blog to then be able to redirect them to a forum. It's all about taking the correct steps and the topic does not really matter as long as some people(lots probably) worldwidely are interested in it.

Going off past experience having an already established website does`nt guarantee a forum will be a success.

As long as the niche is good and there is demand for a forum it will do well.

We would say keep it for all type of (no adult, all other thing) that way you will not have all type of members, post and earning from Adsense.

You will not have to advertise that much because there are many people will join your forum for topic they like, because your forum would be general.
