What kind of website do I need?

I have a business that is strictly internet based. I sell on ebay and a few specialized sites. I need a website designed where I can post several pictures and then give descriptions and a title to each item. Each item may have several accompaning pictures. I need a shopping cart and a merchant account (I have had a paypal account since it's beginning). Also I need to be able to add items and delete items and change specifics of item on a regular basis. I normally have 200 to 300 items posted for sale. Question: what kind of a website is what I'm asking for called? And, what kind of price can I get a site like this up and running for? Thanks for your help.

Try Joomla Virtue Mart. Or Install Joomla, image gallery component, Pay to download component etc.

I would give Prestashop a try, its not perfect, but its easy to setup and should suit your needs.

I put my vote in for Prestashop. It's got a really nice interface and is pretty fast. Might be harder to find a developer for it, but it isn't really hard to learn. You'll have that interface so you can personally add/remove products without having to pay somebody else to do it.

If your not extremely code savvy I recommend a Joomla installation so you can add to it yourself as you get more products. There is a virtumart plugin that will allow you to easily add products over time as you need to. I can show you and example of a Joomla site already running doing this. I think you would be happy with it.

    I reccomend the following platforms:

    MagentoCommerce
    prestashop
    virtuemart and Joomla.

If you are not a designer / developer go with Joomla, there are litterally hundreds of free and paid themes and some are very professional.

Good Joomla Designers: "Just a few"

    Rocket Theme
    Template Plazza
    Joomlart
    Gavick Pro
