What kind of web hosting is needed for smf forum?

Should I use normal web hosting or dedicated?
Can I use google adsense with smf?
If not, what kind of open source forum should I use that allows advertisments..?

 

1. Does not matter, that is a traffic question. You would only need a dedicated machine if you got ALOT of traffic.
2. Yes, you can use adsense.

It depends upon your hosting. 4000-5000 users per day is okay with shared hosting. Mostly limit is of CPU usage. Let me know your forum URL, I might guide you in better way

SMF I think will install in any hosting, Also any hosting having fantastico will have one click installer built with them

 

Yes go with a web host who offers cPanel and fantastico so you can easily install SMF, and also easliy move it later if you need a bigger hosting plan.

This active forum used to be in a shared hosting. So we moved to KnownHost.com VPS Plan. Be careful with overseller webhost. They promise a lot but they will kill your forum site once it gets a lot of traffic. Look for a host that can offer a VPS so you don't have to relocate that far.
