What kind of strategies do you mainly implement for backlinks?

Please don't use the word "content is king" we are talking about backlinks here,.... and how did you know that content is King?

 

I apologies with my grammar,...This what I mean after you you submit your site to a social bookmarkings get the RSS of the social bookmarking with your link on it same as the article directories and then submit it to RSSmix.

I just bought a link on the home page of a PR7 directory. How much impact will this one link have on my site in SEO and PR?

If it's a genuine PR7, there are not too many other external links on the page, is relevant to your niche, and does not appear like an obvious paid link to G, you might hope for it to give your site a very good boost... could push enough juice to see your domain go PR4 or PR5 all by itself in an ideal situation.

But that's in an ideal situation.. most of the time a handful of relevant links from PR0 domains will do you more good than a link from a "whored out" PR7 site.

 

How is effective submitting articles to article directories? I tried it but I haven't seen any substential result. Do you publish article on your blog and then publish it in the directory after it has been indexed? Or you write an article specifically for directories?

 

I do almost all of the above, along with a few hardcore tricks.

For example: find a high-PR forum in your niche, and Google up "site:FORUMURL" in a SEOQuake-enhanced iteration of FireFox. Then, search for old threads that have achieved a PR 3 or 4, and post a relevant and useful comment to them, with your well-anchor-texted link in the signature.

Also, build an RSS feed of your site (not hard to Google up instructions on how to do that free), and then submit your RSS feed to a gajillion RSS directories.

Also, purchase a 3- or 4-year old domain with passable PR (2-4) right here at DigitalPoint, and build a niche-relevant blog. Sell backlinks to your competitors for residual income, and use the high-trust-value (aged, decent-PR, niche-relevant) site to really give your site a powerful backlink. That's kinda blackhat, though.
