What kind of server do you think a site like this needs?

    If a site has around 20,000 page views on average and is a forum, what kind of dedicated server do you think it would need?

    Not a hosting service, but like CPU, RAM, etc....

    My 2.4 ghz CPU single core (dedicated) overloads a lot on my forum. So I just need to know what you guys think should be recommended for a site like this.

    20K page views in one hour? or in one day? or in one month? Which script?
    How about your server load? memory usage?

    20k page views a day

    and yes, IPB script

    Memory usage around 30-40% with 1gb ram

    Server load says 2-3 normally but I've seen it at 10. I'm not really sure what these numbers mean......

    Can you copy the result of "top" command? Server load at 2-3 for a single core CPU is a bit high already.

    20K hits on single core server should work. Try to optimize mysql and Apache or you can double the RAM.
