I' just signed into my Google Webmasters Tool, and notice a steady decline in my rankings for one of my sites. I've had the site about 3-4 months and I haven't done anything with it... What kind of links should I build to at the very least maintain first page and possibly push it back to #1? Thanks for any and all help!
You need to diversify your links, so it wouldn't raise red flags with google. You can do article marketing, web 2.0's, and blog comments. PM sent.
Thanks. I have a question, not just for you but anybody who stumbles across this thread. How does tiered backlinking work? Well not really how it works because I understand that, but what works best? I was thinking Blog Comments/Forums -> Web 2.0's -> Articles/PR Submits -> Money Site... Is that the proper setup? Also why is it bad to blast the money site with blog comments/forum links? Does it have to do with quality or quantity?
Too many backlinks at once would raise red flags with google. It should be a steady increase over time. You should also be only looking for backlinks from authority sites. Quality of these backlinks are very important. Having 1 high quality backlink is better then a 100 low quality ones.
So for example if I were to do manual blog comments on high pr sites (at least pr 2) everyday maybe 3-5 (i'm lazy) that would still help my site, right? Sorry for such simple questions but I've been taking the easy/cheap road with seo this far and realize it's time to do it right if I want to be successful...
You need a wide variety of quality links from different sources like sites within the same or are related to your niche, article directories, and social media sites. Links from forums within your niche would help too. Keep in mind that search engines look at relevance now so you need to build links on sites that are within or related to your niche. Hope that helps. Have a good day!
Thanks. I'm gonna start doing some research and try to push my site back up there with some manual links
Will highly suggest to get quality inbound links from authority sites! For an example if you're having a "SEO Services site" try to get a sponsored review from Top SEO blogs!
Also, work on content development it is very important these days along with quality and natural link building.
Try to make some natural looking links for your top keywords, never buy links on spamy or not relevant sites ..
I wouldnt waste my time doing comments. Get links on high PR home pages that hold the PR. Make sure its revelent to your site and that will be money well spent. 2 to 3 PR 3s and 4s once a week for a few weeks with natural anchor text should get you to the top. Also kw research is important going after a kw that is really competitatve will get you no where. Hope this helps.
I ticked every single option you listed in the poll. Diversity is key, try to obtain links from as many different sources as possible. WebDev
Diversify and do not use keyword anchor text links. Use cliche like read more, click here, or use the full URL.
You should still be using your targeted terms as anchors to some extent, likewise naked urls, generic terms, brands. WebDev
