I have a classified website webcosmo.com Its new, only three months old. having about 100 visitors/day. It looks great, I had good review on the site from fellow forum members. Now I like to take it to the next level promoting it. I am thinking of AdWords. Adwords is very expensive if right keywords not choosen. This is kind of not my field, I would appriciate any suggestions like what kind of keywords I should buy, what to look for etc anything you may think helpful.
just make you research on the right keywords to target first. But sometimes its a trial and error game.
AdWords has a tool that can suggest keywords for you. This is difficult; your site is very disparate and covers a lot of ground. At the very least, you'll need to pick certain sections of your site to serve as landing pages. Do not send people to the home page.
Yes you right it has housing, jobs, personals, services, resumes, gigs, community, for sale : total 8 main categories. Which would be too much to cover. I am thinking of promoting jobs, for sale, housing these three first hoping that others will follow if I have success on these three. Am I thinking right way?
Use specific content from your website, Sections of classifieds, break it down to geographic territories if necessary, etc...
i opened an account with google adwords now. i choosed north-east region which is NY,MA,VA. Since I like to promote on this region first. I choosed these keywords: "advertise car for sale" "advertisement classified" "apartment classified" "apartments classified" "business for sale classified" "classified ad" "classified advertisement" "classified advertisements" "classified advertising" "classified autos for sale" "classified car for sale" "classified dog for sale" "classified dogs for sale" "classified electronics for sale" "classified for sale" "classified for sale in usa" "classified furniture for sale" "classified goods for sale" "classified items for sale" "classified job advertisement" "classified job listings" "classified job openings" "classified job search" "classified kittens for sale" "classified listings" "classified pet for sale" "classified pets for sale" "classified puppies for sale" "classified puppy for sale" "classified trucks for sale" "commercial real estate classified" "commercial real estate employment" "for sale by owner classified" "free classified events" "free classified for sale post" "free classified job post" "free classified personals" "free classified post" "parking space rent classified" "real estate classified" "real estate classified ad" "resume classified submit" "usa free classified listing website" Am I looking at it right way? Please advise.
thank you, looks like its gonna be a long way, with lots of trial and error, lot of pain. unless I had lot of money, somebody do it for me.
Also try using cities in keywords too. That should atleast triple your list. You will need to try alot of keywords at first. It's all trial and error. Keep an eye on your campaign in the begining. Bid high at the start and delete keywords that go upto 250 impressions without clicks. This will help keep your CTR and QS in check. Once CTR and QS are higher, you'll be able to drop your bid. The more keywords you try the more "golden nuggets" you'll find. Don't just use the Adwords tool to come up with keywords. Also try using others. I found alot of good keywords by doing a search for the popualr term, going to that companies website and looking at thier meta keywords used.
Thank you so much jgsketch. That was very informative. I took your suggestions. Added cities on some keywords. Put .08 per click. So far ranking average is 4. Impression 11 click 1 (thats me). I have to think more to find some "golden nuggets". Think thats the magic of AdWords. Am I right?
