I have a friend who's looking to launch his website design company. Not exactly a company but he will just have a website but he wants to register it so he can add something after the name for example "8 Design LLC". Where would he be able to register his company and how much will it cost?
Depends, where is he from? In the US, each state has their own set of fees and processes you have to go to. The best way to find out is to look on the states website. Each country other than the US has thier own guidelines. In Texas it costs 300 up front to set it up. California is more expensive, and some states are as little as 50. But there are certain guidelines to this. What kind of benefit would he get from having LLC at the end? Will it really save him anything? All it really does is limit your liability (hence, limited liability corporation) so they can't take your house. However, if he's just doing webdesign, he really doesn't need all that. In the US you can run a company as a sole propriatorship. Research all the different types of company and decide which is best for you. However, you still have to pay the taxes, or at least claim them, every year.
