What kind of ads should I put on a gaming related site?

Adsense, or should I try different ads, my eCPM was terrible for adsense on my site so much so that I was making more money with 10 views a day on my other site than I was with 100 views a day on the gaming blog.

    Any suggestions?

Adsense is the most popular way to monetize with ads on a website. If that is not feasible then the next best thing is ad networks like adonion, clicksor, bidvertiser, etc. You may also want to try ads from ad networks like BlogAds, Project Wonderful, Branchr, etc. If you search for 'adsense alternatives' in this forum itself you will find tons of ad networks.

Other than adsense, you should try other ads such as adbrite.
And you can further monetize it by selling banner to private buyer.

It is possible to get more quality targeted visitors from private websites with your banners, sometimes much cheaper then adwords, adbrite etc..

It may be better off for you to sell the ad space to private advertisers, from a quick look at your site, you could offer leaderboard size ads up the top of your site. Heck for the right price I might even be interested in trying it out for a month.

A private sale would be great, the 'right' price would be very cheap at the moment because all other advertising options aren't working for me i.e low eCPM and CTR.

And id you were seriously considering it, I would love to work something out.

Well first i would use adsense because it's easy, but after about 2 months your CPC will go down to about 2 cents a click . At that point id go for something like CPA like im running or a CPM network. If using CPA you need to find out who uses your site. For my arcade and many other arcades the audience isn't who you'd expect. There are more women over 18 who play online games than boys under 18. Which most people find suprisng. But it changes what ads i show alot.

That is actually really interesting, especially that you can now tailor your ads better. I don't have any member forms or something like that, but I think it would be very handy knowing the age group and sex of the traffic I get.
