Wondering, Id like for users of a database who post articles of writing, for their posts to appear on the frontpage- and the new items page- etc, and to hopefully have a most viewed page as well. All from what people are posting. Is this possible for joomla to do? Someone told me that joomla would be useful for this.
It can be configured to do this, but I recommend you use Wordpress (self hosted) to minimize set up time. If you are not experienced in Joomla! you might spend 40 hours simply configuring the user permissions. Let me know if you need any help. Dan
Joomla is a complete CMS and it requires a bit of knowledge.. I would recommend you to use self hosted wordpress as well with custom permissions on users which will require your permission to get posted on the main page of the blog.
I cant seem to properly install wordpress- i get an error everytime i navigate to the install page after setting it up. Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '.' in /home/eyesc0/public_html/wp-includes/user.php on line 244 therefore i looked into joomla- but the problem is, im using flash to make this site- with databasing included. its supposed to be similar to youtube- and i dont think wordpress can be configured to be similar like youtube. thats why joomla seemed like a better option. any help is good help
you can setup any kind of site with joomla and the most importantly most people use joomla to power news or magazine portals. Having said that you can also accomplish anything with wordpress because it is such a powerful cms.
