What i've done to generate traffic

Here is mine:

1. Forum Posting and Signatures - this is by far the most effective way for me to have both short term and ling term visitors. There are a lot of forums to advertise with and to post with your signature. Consider these lists: Free Ads Forums and Moneymaking & webmasters Forums

2. Social Bookmarking - You may also submit your site in Social Bookmarking Sites. Many don’t like SBS advertising but for fast and immediate traffic, this is one of the best options.

3. Yahoo Answers - try to answer some questions related to your site and post your link.

4. Entrecard - the biggest contributor in my traffic today. This is very easy and simple to do.

5. Blog Comments - The last thing that I am doing when I have extra time. Posting on others’ blogs with your link could increase your backlinks.

6. Craigslist - I am getting around 20 unique hits per day from a single post in craigslit.

I've tested almost all marketing techniques available online.. Each and every technique has its own audience and response rate.

Let me share with you some of the findings that I have finished analyzing.

Video marketing
---------------
Via social networking media (ie. friendster & myspace) - response rate 33% within 1st week
Via email - response rate 1.2%
Via blog commenting (latest post only)- visitors 180% within 1 month

* results are based on certain criteria.

Relevant Yahoo! answers are a great way of driving traffic to your site. I did an answer about 3 months ago and gave a link to 1 of my sites and from that answer alone i get 20 unique ip's a day...easy and effective...

 

Ive been using social bookmarking alot.
I try to get all the reviews on my site on Digg.Com
Digg is a great way to bring in traffic. Seriously, take the time to link your articles, videos, etc there
So far, with social bookmarking, plenty of search engine submissions, directory submissions, forum posts, and incentives, I was able to achieve over 1000 unique hits for my site this month (first month).

thanks for sharing yeah i heard about yahoo!answer too and alot people said it is quite effective. I think i will try it too.

For me it will be social bookmarking because it is easy to use and time saving

With many of these methods: social sites, youtube, digg, etc., the best thing you can do is have content that you are promoting that can be viral. If the content gets a life of its own.......look out!

SEO and posting on this forum brought me most of the traffic (I had some spikes from StumbleUpon or Techcrunch but they didn't stay too much)...

I just try to rank well for my target keywords and phrases... And add great content.

 

This mthods works and i think most people does that

distribute free reports/ebooks, article writing (loads of it ), forum posting (being helpful) and my special method
