Hi, I know that using affiliate programs is not the same way as CPM or PPC network where you simply have to display their ad and get money per click or per thousand display, BUT.. Still I have sites with traffic, where there is no main topic, the content can be about everything (with some exceptions) and I'd like to display products from clickbank that are more or less (more is better) related to the content of the page being displayed. I'm sure some of you are doing it already, so I'd like to read about your strategy to do that, do you use a paid plugin or have you developed your own way? Could you please tell me in general terms how you went about it? At the moment I'm using their javascript widget and feeding it keywords that I take in PHP from the content of the page, it works "quite" well but I'm making close to no sales. So perhaps it is because of the low quality of the landing pages from the clickbank vendors, or perhaps they're losing my affiliate id in the process, I don't know.. Do you pre-select a dozen or more products with quality landing pages or by gravity and then display them depending on the category/tag of the page? Please share your technic with me, so I can learn faster how to master life without adsense, thank you
Clickbank isn't a contextual ad network. You used to be able to create keyword specified ads with their Hop Ad Builder but that is being retired. The best way to promote CB offers is using text links in articles and banners.
Thanks dcristo, I have 3 comments: 1. I know clickbank is not a contextual ad network, I'm asking what others have done to try to use affiliate programs such as clickbank in a contextual way. 2. I wasn't aware that Hop Ad Builder is being retired, do you have a link/source for that? I didn't find anything on clickbank to suggest that. I'm using it and feeding it keywords on the fly, that's what I was referring to when I wrote "their javascript widget". EDIT: I've found it, starting from 23rd july 2012, that is VERY SAD indeed * 3. I forgot to mention I was thinking about dynamically replacing keywords/keyphrases in my page's content with a link to specific products related to those terms. I haven't done it yet. I'm looking for experience feedback from long time clickbank users about trying to sell clickbank products on user-generated content pages with various topics. I am aware the way to go about selling products via clickbank is different than contextual ad networks and that I should have highly targeted content for each product I'm promoting, but still in the meantime I'd like to monetize the traffic I already get which is loosely targeted and in many topics, not all relevant to any products, but I'm looking for automated systems I could put in place and sell some products daily with minimal effort (just the effort of implementing the system). This is a temporary solution, of course I'll start to produce product/problem/solution content from now on in order to better sell clickbank (and other CPA) products. *: HopAd functionality is being retired beginning July 23, 2012. Existing HopAds will continue to function temporarily, but no new HopAds may be created. Thank you for participating in this beta feature. We will provide a date for final decommissioning of HopAds soon. Please remove existing HopAd Builder blocks from your website as soon as possible.
Yes, I've edited my post just as you were posting.. They give no reason at all for this move.. I've contacted them to know if they have suggestions to duplicate what their HopAd widget was doing.. That's one more obstacle to overcome now
I have some good news for you, Wellparked has been part of the beta test for a new 'bloggerhigh' plugin called "CBSense". It's basically an adsense equivalent for clickbank. Our own tests have shown it has massively increased revenue for every blog we tested it on. The best thing is CBSense plugin doesn't change the look or feel of your blog in any way. They must be close to launch so your best bet is to sign up to bloggerhigh as I am sure they will be altering their members when it's live.
I don't use wordpress, you don't even mention it and just assume everyone has wordpress blogs.. Plus I'd like general techniques, and possibly free. Thanks
