Hey all, I was wondering what your opinion was on untargetted traffic on sites like milliondollarhomepage and sitespin.net (<< my site ) I agree that you dont always get someone who might purchase your product or even be remotely interested in your surface but the amount of hits of a well marketed and used site should combat this - for example on my site, it will take you to a random site - this is the main feature (all the sites that will be picked have paid at least $1). This is what is going to get you traffic because its slightly different then having the thousands of impressions on your advertisement and not a single click. It is also good for generating back links for your site (again assuming if they have a good PR rank!) - on my site I have a nice e-mail from quite a few customers for syaing how many people were actually using their site for a small investment. I have registered my site to plenty of untargetted traffic sites and imo it offers a nice change from conventional advertising, its cheap and gets you results - if you haven't given it a go yet I suggest you do you'll be pleasantly surprised with the results
There is definitely a place for mass, untargeted advertising. For general niche websites, entertainment, online games, news, funny videos etc. advertising of this type can work quite well; especially if you are running any CPM banner campaigns. If your website is more niche specific then mass, untargeted traffic is going to be completely useless and just waste your bandwidth. I think your site and milliondollarhomepage fall into that category.
it depends on your site. IMO i would rather have 10 targetted visiters to my online store then 100 un targetted, but on my blog about anything & everything any traffic is good (apart from spam of course )
Traffic is what you make of it if you can filter it to be profitable then its good if not you have to find a way to monetize it.
Worthless. Only good to spike Alexa rankings to certain webmasters looking to sell of their new site. And even then, it's still not good since the value of it once it gets explained goes down.
