    Hi

I have always done reciprocal links with same theme sites, however I have since been reading that it is now considered bad by G is there any truth in that.

You read so much, so throught it worth asking :)

    Thanks

    Dee

No, haven't read anything negative regarding reciprocal links. But if it is a quality link, it would definitely help a lot.

My fear with reciprocal links is - what if the site you are linking to suddenly turns black hat/uses a link farm etc and you are then linked to a "bad neighbourhood". Will this then get your site blacklisted by Google as well?

I don't really like reciprocal links myself. Though perhaps for things like blogging they work quite well. Sometimes though they can look too mechanical and Google prefers links to have more natural placings.

That said, it's an inevitability for many sites. Do it, but don't make it the crux of your SEO effort.

    I probably reject reciprocal links.
There are many directories which will list your sites without a reciprocal link :)
It's always good to have one way backlinks and less outbound links from our site

If linking or being linked to relevant sites, most likely it'll benefit your site, just avoid nonrelevant linking, as google may suspect it as buying links.

generally websites with reciprocal linking program , usually fall pretty low on quality scale....It is good to trade links with the relevant sites with same themes... Otherwise there is no use of reciprocal linking with these sites...

reciprocal links is just basically link exchange. Just be cautious as to which site you are linking too. Google mentioned that webmaster have no control over to which site link to their website, but they do have control to which site they link to.

i think reciprocal links are quite useful too, especially if the sites fit together (are from the same niche). But i wont rely just on reciprocal links.

I think reciprocal link is simple system exchange links/banners and on blogs is ok, but another sites google preffer naturally links. On directory scripts in my opinion is useless option for adding url person if is it common directory.

No reciprocal links are not give any weighted by Google as Google thinks that it is a form of exchange through mutual understanding. Therefore many SEO experts ignore them.

Even i would suggest the same. Target one way links for getting best results.

I generally dont do link exchange. If our link partner is from a link farm we will also be penalize. It is impossible to monitor our link partners continuously.

Nahh... I hate recip links they ruin your site. It depends on the site though, I usually create minisites with a product on them. You can't put links on your minisite because you'll lose sales

I prefer natural links. Reciprocal links are ok but anyday google can track and ban you.

Quality reciprocal links can be accepted to some extent. But reciprocal links from .edu/.gov/.org has some weightage. But theme is IMPORTANT !
