What is your opinion about submitting links in web/article directories. 1. Make your visibility on the web. 2. Get a backlink. 3. Get more traffic 4. high PR, etc
Easy way to rank higher in the SERP. I do a 4k directory submission on my new sites once they established a trust level with Google and they always end up in the top 5 SERP rank. ( Considering I make good market analysis) For me they are a easy way to rank the top of the SERP fast. BUT they must be accompanied by other link building method that are more aggresive. The submissions in web directories help in gaining the backlinks improving the PR and SERP. I consider directory submission as one og best ways to get backlinks. But i do not see any considerable traffic coming from directories.
Alright, First, PR must be distinguished from SEO|SERP. having a high PR won't necessarily allow you to rank high on the SERP (especially Google because of their algorithm) because they are not related directly. PR comes from a PR transfer system. If you get a link from A HIGH PR source there will be PR juice from that Link. However the quality of the link doesn't matter here, you could get a blogroll link from a high PR home page and It would do some PR appreciation to your website the link points to. Problem is when considering directories is that your link will end up on a N/A or 0 PR page and there won't be any juice transfer from those links. On this point PR and SERP diverge greatly as PR don,t mean much to google anymore and ins't worked on anymore since it was abandoned. People are too attached to PR and PR only matters for "site selling" as it ads another superficial value to the website making the price higher. Anyway this is somewhat complex and If that didn't answer your question please let me know. You could also grab my ebook in my signature for free: I do talk about that. (Odds of having PR from a directory are minimal and shoudn't be accounted for except for some paid links where you end up on home page...but yet again its only temporary) dearly, fdamours
Yeah, submitting links in web/article directories can lead to higher PR to our site.Hence, more back links.
While it's true many directories only have PR on the homepage and therefore offer little PR transfer, the sweeping statement that all directory submissions will end up on a N/A or 0 page is simply not true. Like with any site, it depends on the quality of the directory and how much work the directory owner has put in.
Good directories help your rankings, especially for the keywords you use. Bad directories are not so useful. I am not sure if article directories are as useful as they used to be, as most of them have too much duplicate content.
The ultimate goal is to get more traffic. Visibility and backlinks both help you get traffic, but PR in and of itself doesn't. What you should focus on is trying to get links back to your site that will actually get clicked. A web directory that has it's pages ranked in the SERPs will actually generate some traffic for you. In addition, having a link from a page that is ranked well in the SERPs will help your site rise in the SERPs which will give you a lot of traffic. Long story short, look for links in your niche from web pages ranked in the SERPs...regardless of the source.
Out of four i think you get only backlinks in most of directories. Traffic, branding etc is not possible as most of directories are of low quality.
