Hah, we are all libertarians, though apparently Rebecca and I lean a bit farther right than you Rob.

I wasn't the biggest fan of those test answers either, but generally speaking, its about where I thought I was.

I took it again today, gave the same answers, and got a different result:
    NolanChart.jpg

Is that meant to be a joke? Seriously? Did Earl miss Bill Clinton's presidential campaigns?

The usage of language is the business I am in - neurolinguistics, SOM, etc. The Left's use of language has been deep emotional manipulation of the middle, while Fox panders to the right only.

I would post my results but, as yet, have failed to ascertain how to go about copying the image using my Vista software. I'm not fully tech savvy if you get my drift. ;)

So, my result is a Centrist with my leaning slightly Libertarian and left. Basically, the star is above the C and E in Centrist. However, I wouldn't consider myself left leaning at all. Socially, I consider myself libertarian, while fiscally I would consider myself conservative. However, the results don't reflect that. However, I do want to point out that when reading some of the choices, I found myself agreeing with two or more of the responses. I firmly believe it was within the way the responses were worded. I would disagree partially with the first statement, but then the "rhetoric" would sound sort of appealing. In the end, I basically just chose what "seemed" better. If I were to rate myself I would have said Centrist, with leanings in the upper right corner of the box. Oh well. lol

Anyway, I answered Libertarian, Libertarian, Statist, Statist, Liberal, Conservative, Libertarian, Statist, Liberal, and Libertarian according to the historic responses based on individual questions. The funny thing when looking at the numbers is that the majority on 100% of the questions was libertarian which leads me to believe that either the questions were structured to appeal to libertarians or they were guided in the wording towards that form of response. Or maybe Libertarians are the ones that do these sorts of surveys the most.

Fox at 28%, not a surprise. CSPAN at 3%, well behind MSNBC at 8%, huge surprise. CSPAN is as close to raw information as you can get.

I guess people would rather have it summed up and *presented* to them a certain way.

Isn't the percentage of independent voters around 19%?

Fox News = 28%, that is, the percentage of people that have already made up their minds to vote Republican.
NBC + ABC + CBS = 31%, that is, the percentage of voters that have already made up their minds to vote Democratic.
With a margin of error of ±3%, that makes them about equal.

IMO, Fox News has a large audience but I think they are ONLY influential amongst Republicans (not Conservatives).

CNN is more devious. CNN presents fair and interesting news and occasionally will slyly insert something biased in favor of Republicans.

This screenshot is from 2008. The screen in the back is a scrolling news ticker. Notice how "Obama" is next to the words "Prayer" and "special", while "McCain" is next to "Nuremberg". The entire scrolling screen was like that.

Update: Around Sept 2012 Jon Stewart went from being bipartisan to just being an out-and-out shill for Obama (just google Job Stewart sell out)

For news I now watch Bloomberg TV almost exclusively. It's the only place I see honest news because investors don't bet favorites, they bet what's real.

Amazing! That is about the same time I shut him off too. He's always leaned left but been willing to take an occasional shot at his own dogma, and I've always considered him extremely funny. During the last month of the election, he became so partisan he became unwatchable. I've turned him on several times since and he seems to now be stuck in that mode.

Paul Krugman went through a similar metamorphosis. There was some critical tipping point he reached where he simply became a barking dog for the Democrats at which point, IMO, he ceased having any credibility at all. A sad fate for people with what would otherwise be generally acknowledged as exceptional.

Bloomberg isn't bad, but they don't have a Rick Santelli. Amazing that guy can retain gainful employment working for any company having the initials "NBC" in it's name.

I just realized that Jon Stewart doesn't own or produce his own show. Comedy Central does.

So, was the long lean left an editorial decision or a management decision? Or a combination of both?

    Exactly how I felt!

I suspect that Krugman did it maybe so he could get booked on more news and talk shows.

Letterman leans heavy left. Imagine how difficult it would be for him to get lefty Hollywood guests on his show if he was Republican.

I find it hard to believe Stewart doesn't influence or completely control the writing. I suppose comedic shots at the left could be culled by an editorial staff, but the bottom line is, Jon Stewart is the product they are selling. Its his name, his brand, even if he put his foot down on editorial decisions. If he allows his name to be synonymous with partisan moonbat, he has only himself to blame.

Leno doesn't have a problem, and he is a comedian that seems to take great care in making sure his shots at the left and right get equal measure. Unless you are just breaking into the business, what is the upside of going hyper partisan?

Well, Letterman owns his own TV show through his own production company World Wide Pants. He's pretty open and brags about it.

Meanwhile, Comedy Central as a network not only has a history of choosing ownership over ratings (look at how they chased Dave Chapelle's moneymaking show away), but they seem to go with blatantly lefty shows that are ratings poison (like "Lil Bush").

I like Leno as a person, but I always felt he was a weak interviewer.
