It seems you have good experience of staying outside USA, Joe. For me, I enjoy my home country India, a lot.
There are a lot of nice local places in Canada, but my most exciting trips would be outside the country, such as in Latin America or the Carribbean. I would like to visit Greece as well.
I never had the pleasure of visiting India but I have traveled extensively. After Thailand, I joined the navy and made cruises to the Mediterranean, North Atlantic, and South America. After active duty, I went to work for the navy as a civilian and traveled to various contractor facilities in and outside the US. These days I prefer to travel around the US as there are some states I haven't visited yet and I want to experience all of them before I decide I'm ready to move on from this life.
I have five states that I have not visited because there was never a business reason to do so: ND, SD, MT, AK, and HI. Have been to the rest. Been to many places in Europe but never to Asia. Would like to get to Japan, China, S. Korea, and Taiwan, at a minimum. Thailand also would be interesting, of course. But, there is a little known island that is part of Sri Lanka that I might make my first stop for some personal reasons.
At the moment it's Cancun. Probably would consider it our home away from home. Typically go there for two to three weeks every year. However, due to a friends wedding we are going to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for one week, so most likely will only do one to two weeks in Cancun.
Just for completion I would say take a trip to those places so you can check them all off. That must be really cool to be able to say you did, in my opinion. Traveling to Asia would be quite interesting, but it was never too high on my list (which I have barely started at this point). Maybe in a few years.
For me it is always in Melbourne, in winter, great temperature at most 0 degrees and amazing variety of food.
Next time you go there or anywhere else with great food, post a picture on the thread in my signature. I am dieting right now, and my only contact with great food is vicariously through that thread.
I've been to Hawaii a few times. My favorite memory from there is snorkeling in Hanauma Bay one day when 3 whales swam into the mouth of the bay. Absolutely amazing.
I was there once but I couldn't do any sightseeing. In the 70s we couldn't go beyond the fence that separated the base from the rest of the island.
My favorite spot is Vegas! You can get flights cheap, like 60 bucks each way, the weather is always nice and the hotels are cheap and you don't have to book months in advance to get a deal! And I don't gamble!
The weather may seem always nice. However, if you top the hill coming in from Boulder City and look over Vegas from that position you'll see a constant cloud of pollution hanging over the city. Not so healthy I believe.
