Hi, Where do you market your websites to get more traffic? blogs, stumbleupon or something else, wana share? Thanks
My sites main source of traffic is Google generic search results. Most of my sites membership (I run a forum) comes from my videos on youtube, metacafe, dailymotion, yahoo video and other video hosting sites. Even though google might refer more people to my site, the people that visit after watching my videos are around 60% more likely to register an account. After the person registers, they are more likely to return and post in the forums. After youtube I have a couple of portal pages under different domain names. These sites are kinda like a blog / portal that have links going back to my main site. I will post an article on the portal page, and at the end of the article I will put a link going to the forum. In all, I have about 3 blog / portal pages that point to the main forum. One of these portal pages ranks 3rd for directing traffic to the forums. It also ranks close to my main forum in certain google searches. For certain keywords of my nitch, I have 2 sites in the 10. One site the main forum, the other site a portal to the forum. 1 - google 2 - youtube 3 - one of my portal pages Some of the portal pages were built with simple HTML pages. Currently I am in the process of moving those HTML pages over to wordpress. I also submit a lot of my forum pages to del.icio.us and stumble upon. In del.icio.us I think I have submitted 75 - 100 pages from my forum. In stumble upon, I might have submitted 20 pages? I just started using stumble upon, but it is already referring people to my site.
SEO and paid advertising would be the two sources to get somebody to my sites. But once they're on the site, they've given alot of ways to come back (i.e. email list, "bookmark us" buttons, notifications, etc).
I have a direct traffic rate of 75 %! The reason for that is that our core product is showed on a subdomain so if end-users get curious about who is behind, they simply plot in www in the url. That's the real power of having a web-based solution.
I used to do SEO for getting.Form my experience its the best method.I am having few sites which are having top positions in Google. It bring me $2 to $3 per day without doing anything.
For me I've developed my own system to get traffics from sites like MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog etc.. BTW I'm looking for tester for my commercial release version.. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=892236
Can get traffic, but quality is based on getting targeted traffic only. Best traffic is off Google, unarguably.
Obviously 90% of my site traffic comes through Google. Good blogging can be really helpful in drawing traffic to a site
