i just launched a new site .. and went straight to directories what do you do to build links when you start a new site
For a new site you can build links through press release distribution, article distribution, directory submissions, blog postings, and pay per post.
I am NO expert... but here's what I do... 1. free directories... as many as I can find.. 2. a few dozen articles to a few dozen article directories.. 3. some links from my other sites.. 4. some links from the sites selling the digital products that I market from the sites (e.g., payloadz.com 's store) 5. (perhaps foolishly) paid directories
free directories and link exchange. commenting on relevant blogs also helps drive traffic, which can lead to links. if you have good stuff.
I personally use alot of the web 2.0 strategies like Youtube, Twitter, and the rest of the social bookmarking tools.
Nothing new here but this is the order I approach them and I try to do a little bit of each one to build up links slowly. 1.Free directories - I use directory critic for info. 2. Articles and press releases. 3. Social bookmarking 4. Forums with anchor text
