Hip Hop music it gets me pumped, relaxed etc depending on the song. Some other music is good too but I'm not a fan of Rock
Classical and alternative rock is on top of my list, but most good music from all categories passes through my speakers from time to time.
I don't like all types of music and I never have. People always say that to appear well rounded, but when you look at their iPod or music collection, it usually centers around one 1-3 different styles..far from "All kinds". Personally, I like House Music (preferably NY, Detroit, and Chicago Style), Detroit Techno, and most styles of Trance..although not all. Unfortunately most Americans group those all into one category -"Techno". That's pretty sad, and sounds just as stupid as if I labeled Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, and Dave Mathews all "Hard Rock". I used to like Rap growing up when it actually said something more than a few catch phrases and before everyone started worshiping money like it was some kind of new religion. I respect a lot of styles of music, and respect that people like them, but you won't catch me at a Country Music Concert (although some of the female artists are HOTT!) or blasting Metallica from my car. Never was a Beetles fan, but I do have some favorite rock groups..Van Halen being one of them. I pretty much think anything on commercial radio is crap, especially Pop Music, and the music industry for the most part deserves to be loosing money for all of the crap they have been force feeding the public for the last 10 years. There are some really good alternative and dance bands on the rise (such as iiO), but we know collectively new music lacks as a whole. Classic groups such as the prior mentioned Pearl Jam, Rolling Stones, Run-DMC, Johnny Cash, Pink Floyd, Elvis and a slew of others still seem to dominate the charts.
Who's your favourite darkpsy? Who's your favourite dubstep? Who's your favourite post-rock? Who's your favourite breakcore? Who's your favourite brechtian cabaret?
What the heck are these (I know what dubstep is) and when did they make up these categorizations ? What, does every band need their own individual own sub niche inside a genre ? If there are less than 10 bands in it at all times that are actually selling records, it shouldn't be considered a sub niche, or get it's own name. It's getting ridiculous. JMO
Those aren't sub genres. There are dozens of subgenres of each. I was asking the guy who claimed to like "all music". Why do you pretend to know about electronic music. Dubstep has been massive in electronic music for years now. There are a lot more than 100 dubstep artists. I could personally name about 200. I've seen about 50 of them live. Do you actually have a clue about music at all?
You must have missed this part.. How can anyone know every kind of music and every sub genre that was created in the last 15 years. It is virtually impossible. I was pretty clear about what I listen to and what I know. House, Trance, and Detroit Techno and I have been listening to it, buying it, and following it since probably before you were born and all those little sub genres were created..and Dubstep is a sub genre of Electronic Dance Music, traced back to the late 1990's and early 2000...don't get confused as if it's been around since before Disco. It has not. House is the original of all EDM genres which goes back to the late 70's and early 80's in Chicago and Detroit and everything else is a sub genre of either House, created and started in Chicago, or Techno, created and started in Detroit. Trance is a spin off of Detroit Techno combined with more electronic forms of House, but the phrase itself didn't really take shape until the late 90's, which many attribute to the U.K. group KLF. Trance is a U.K. designation that eventually became recognized around the world. Every other sub genre can be traced back to it's spin off from either House, Techno music, and in some cases Hip hop of the late 80's...since they all were coined AFTER the 2 original styles.( with the exception of Break Beat, who's roots are attributed to Kool Herc, and Aftrika Bambatta amongst others in the early 80's in New York) You can read about it all you want, but I was there. What else do you want to know ? I get more EDM press, invitations and music sent to me in a week than you probably buy in a whole year. You may know the Dubstep artist of the moment (I don't follow dubstep anyway), but I know when it started, who started it, where it came from and how much it sells....and it's not much compared to the other forms of EDM. Look around the sigs jr. I'm not blogging for adsense here. This is what I do
