Ice Kacang Puppy Love is a 2010 Malaysian movie released by director Tan Kheng Seong. Tan is also popularly known as 'Ah Niu', a Malaysian singer who is quite popular in late 1990s not only in Malaysia but also Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and even China. Ice Kacang refers to shaved nuts, a local Malaysian cold dessert that are greatly enjoyed by Malaysians both locally and abroad. What is so special about this movie is this is the first movie directed by Tan, who is a Malaysian of Chinese descent. All the actors and actresses in the movie are also Malaysian of Chinese descent. The scenes from the movie goes back to 1980s, where people and neighbours are quite friendly and helpful with each other. During the hot day they eat iced nuts or play marbles for the kids. It is so much different in Malaysia now when technology like internet and mobile phones become part of Malaysian lifestyle. I fell in love with this movie although this is the first movie directed by Tan. He isn't well-known yet in the Western cinema but I think he got potential to climb up the ladder some day. Although it is a low-budget Malaysian movie the movie is worth to be watched. Below are the synopsis and the trailer for the movie: http://filmasia.blogspot.com/2010/11/ice-kacang-puppy-love-malaysia-2010.html
