    The SSC was what I was going to mention. What a beast!

    Actually, the Veyron isn't the fastest or most powerful anymore. The SSC Ultimate Aero is faster in both acceleration and top speed. The SSC can pull the Veyron in the quarter mile by nearly 3 car lengths.

    The SSC is the most powerful production car at 1200+ horsepower where a tuned Veyron will produce just over 1100. The SSC is again faster by top speed.

    But in acceleration the Veyron still wins. The official 0-100 time for a Veyron is 2.5s but independent tests have achieved a 0-100 in 2.4 whereas the SSC will do it in 2.8. That's half a second difference.
