I've heard the phrase "staunch conservative", but never "proud conservative"...

To me, those that get the label tend to be the ones that the liberals consider to be traitors or wafflers.. What it turns out to be, is that many conservatives have social ideals and many liberals have conservative ideals...

I think neocon is completely inappropriate. Liberal Conservative, Social Conservative, Liberal Conservative, Anti-Social Liberal (just joking on that one).

    I guess I just don't like labels..

just so you know, i'm not beating this into anyone's head, i won't argue this fact with you. it's just info out there for people who are ready to listen.

but i will ask you this, as it is a political question and you're a part of my camp.. do you think the government should put chemicals such as fluoride in the water?

Assuming it is monitored properly, of course... The fluoride levels in our water are near perfect, and has a result, my child's teeth and gum health reflect it.

Of course you still need to encourage proper dental hygiene, which we do.

City water is going to have chemicals in it no matter what given the fact that much of it gets recycled. For us, a lot comes from our lake itself, which you probably would not want to drink without chemicals given all the Illinois people that come up here and pollute our water! ;)

Right, they have no right to use YOUR lake, after all it is YOUR lake they are polluting. Brilliant!

No, it was an inside joke directed at Rob... Meant to get a rise out him. You take things way too serious.

I find Mountain Dew cans, MD Cupcakes and pool parties makes for a dirty lake.

Oh great, now we are back to Rob's pool parties.

I gave Nate permission to steer the thread off course, but no pool parties allowed.

I think nate should start threads in the General category about health, but really think he should write about it in a blog.

You probably never been to a communist country.

I worked in East Berlin just before the wall came down for the public works department. We had 5 people working and 10 watching :D The beer was cheap but it would cost a months salary for a good pair of bluejeans.

from what i've read, the forms of communism used in history where a brutal upper class lived was not what Karl Marx intended.

from what i gathered, he sought a system much like the Amish use where people live together in relationships and work together to reap the fruits of the land. because he said capitalism made subjects out of humans and consumers, destroying mans relationship.

not that i think it would work, cause history shows that it doesn't. but it's something to think about it.

lol, i plan on making a website about natural health someday. actually i already had plans to do so about a year ago when i first got into it, but i knew it wouldn't be wise to write about something i don't completely understand yet and especially if i wasn't better yet. that's where the "ncz" in my name comes from, natural curing zone.

That was the beauty of Communism.. Everyone had a job, but you go to the grocery store and there was one person to check out your items, another to pass the items down to the next guy that gave them to the bagger while the next guy handed you the bag, and still another guy to hand you your change...

    Interesting system...

So does anyone else want to chime in with their definition of neocon?

I would really like to know if someone here really believes a neocon is a Jew.

I think wiki has one of the more conclusive definitions, and is pretty on par with how I feel...

Neocon really seems to be one of those stupid childish catch phrase born out of the anti-that there Fox News counter culture of neo-moonbat we see so much of...

It's meant to be an insult in many cases.. I take it for what it is, a phrase designed to label a person, persons or group of people in order to enact a desired reaction.

It's kinda like calling someone a dick head in many cases.. depending on the context in which it is used. I've seen everyone from Jew to Gentile called one if they fit a certain criterion. It's really a stupid label, like "generation X".. WTF is that anyway?

Well after hearing it from a certain few so many times on this forum and then someone hinted that it was a codeword for Jew, it really seem to fit. I don't believe all use the term to mean Jew, but not surprised if it is. I just don't know for sure and I don't expect anyone to admit it if it is.

    Kind of a catch22.

I just think the word is used as an attack word, like Jeremy (mia) says. It is meant to demean someone.
