What are average conversion ratios? I'm very new to cj.com, and have mainly been using the api to generate more content for my site, and that is actually doing somewhat well, but I've yet to have an actual sale. I was wondering is it possible for affiliates to scrape with commission junction? What is your conversion ratio? Do you convert 1/100? I would figure that's about what it should be, but I'm sure it all depends on your products.
Yeah, it all depends a lot. For the bulk of it how targeted the traffic you send to offers is the most important factor, then there's the actual offer itself and how the advertiser is selling it. In my opinion: 1% reasonable 2% great 3-4% rocking Pete
That goes about with what I'm expecting. I'm trying to drive organic long tail results to the product pages I'm generating (and then later editing if need be). Thanks for the input.
Also I'd say it depends on what type of site you have, if your primary goal is sales, it should be a little higher than 2-3, but if you are a content site trying to generate sales 2-3 is great. If you are trying to sell things that aren't totally related to the focus/content of your site (or maybe if you have a proxy/arcade and put up CJ links) I wouldn't expect more than .9-1.5
Are you guys talking about unique visitors to sales ratio's or clicks to sales I hope it isn't clicks to sales
I was originally talking about clicks to sales. I am also interested in unique visitors to sales, and that is something you actually have control over. For instance if your link text said "Buy Now" you might get less clicks than if it simply said "More Information" or the like. But I'm not so sure that would mean you would end up getting more sales, unless it's due to the fact that the cj cookie resides on their pc until they actually do buy. In my point of view once they're at the affiliate site there's not much else you can do to promote the sale. I mean sure if you had more targeted traffic you might have a higher click to sale ratio. I'm also more interested in experiences with cj product links (Or linking to a specific page on the affiliate's site) rather than just broadly linking people to the affiliate. Also I believe this conversion ratio would vary intensely with price. If you are linking to a $5 item it seems that it might be an impulse buy, whereas a $1000 item they'll be more likely to research and may not end up buying at the affiliate site.
I've only been at it a few months, but for some categories of product and advertiser I have a 2.92% conversion ratio (CR). I managed to get my click through rate (CTR) up to average at around 36%. If I get a website visitor, there's a 1% chance I will get a $ale!!! It's amazing the difference even tiny changes to your site will make to these figures. Focus on red-hot products from high converting advertisers, and make sure you've done everything you can to persuade your visitors to go $hopping. Work hard to get your site's search engine PageRank up high so you get the traffic too. Do all that and you'll do really well as an affiliate publisher.
