It is my first post here. Hello all.

I will buy Windows server and we used linux every time. So i do not have any information about IIS server. I read documents but most of them is about setup. I know how i will setup it. There is a problem about my choice...

When i bought a dedicated server to my customers, which server should i choose? I want to support all platforms (PHP, ASP)

If apache servers does not give a problem, i want to setup it. Because i have information about apache. But i do not know apache's ASP support quality.

Please give me information about that. Thanks for your interest.

i do not think that apache is so qualtied performance about asp... but if you want to host all platforms you have to setup apache.

(and this is my first post too)

PHP is pretty easy to install for IIS. The install read me with php gives you the steps needed to install php for IIS.

    Apache.

Apache - Apache and Apache. For some people just one word Apache is enough. But forums will not allow me to make this much small post.

    Thanks.

I agree with Jesus Christ...I normally don't like IIS, but if you need to support ASP and PHP, you want IIS, though ASP on Apache is coming along nicely (via third party projects).

People just make dumb suggest like "apache apache apache". OP wants to support asp, and right now clients will ask for asp.net 1.1 and 2.0. How are you going to host asp.net pages with apache? Mono might help but it's unstable.

Before saying apache can emulate this and that, do your homework!

I'm not dissing apache here, I like it as a matter of fact but people should really do their homework before hollering.

If you HAVE to support ASP, then look into apache solutions, but I would lean towards IIS. Depending on what you want to do, apache may meet all your needs. If your requirements are unknown, you'll have to go with IIS.

Know what you are getting into though. I wouldn't recommend IIS to anyone outside a closed environment. If apache asp support can get you what you need, use apache.

A factor you might want to consider while making your choice is mod_rewrite. That's +1 for apache:p

How can you support the .NET platform on apache? kind of rules it out if he wants to support all platforms doesn't it? Also think about the database issue. Anyone running Apache and MS SQL? Please let me know if there are.

I gotta agree with brandnewx on this. I have worked on both, and there are some ASP functions that apache just does not handle well.
