I give most of my time in content creation and I do a few link building daily naturally, it works for me.

 

I agree with SERPpoint. You just have to focus on creating great content and distributing it well, and that will build links as well as establish your authority in your niche. Spending time trying to identify sites where you can get links or engaging in spammy link building schemes generally doesn't payoff and is a waste of time. So, I would just focus on making great content and distributing well.

i'm happy to see almost all ppl here is focusing on high quality content. don't waste too much time in link building and let it flow naturally, the best thing you can do. SEO is no more the same, you could spend months trying to optimize your site listening to "SEO gurus" and you still get no traffic or even worse you experience traffic drops. Hi matanblu, this is to answer your question about what I mean by “distribute well”.
What I mean is to:

1. Push your content out to social media sites as well as trying to create connections within the social media sites, so people will see your content when you push it out.
2. Building readership to your blog or whatever channel you are pushing content out to.
3. Networking with real people, especially with thought leaders within your niche.

So, it's important to be able to connect with people on the social networking sites so that your content will be distributed more widely. It's also important to connect with real people develop relationships with them who are thought leaders in your industry.

Then when you put something out and if you've mentioned someone in your content, contact them and let them know. They may share with their readers or their friends. If you wrote something that you believe would be of particular interest to another blogger or another content creator in your niche, share it with them directly and personally.

The idea is to build up a network, both in the social media and in real relationships, so that you can push content out and get to as many people as possible. You may also want to do optimization on your posts, so that you may also generate some traffic from search engines which will also increase your readership.

 

all good things but if you don't build your list you are out of the game, i wouldn't waste time on SEO or backlinks (i have never done any SEO or link building in my websites, just basic SEOing, and i make my online income as well as i rank on SERPs with no problems), i would focus on list building because it's with list building you make money.Those who still don't understand this process are those who always fail in the Internet industry and post their questions here trying to optimize here and there. Agree with Lesterj about creating solid relationships because you can turn them into subscribers or you can leverage other marketers to promote your products or make JV. IMHO link building is a total waste of time (and sometimes money) that is not worth any minimum effort from me and therefore i never build links.

 

These days link building is not more valuable. for better result onsite seo, content updates and social media is best.
