    Yahoo Messenger is just one way of communicating on the Internet. I've seen that some people are using YM as support system for their products/services and some even do a paid personal coaching.

    Instant Messengers are the chat programs such as WLM, AOL, and as you brought up, Yahoo! (Note that WLM is the new MSN and has been for years, MOVE ON PEOPLE! :p)

    They all have the same features, pretty much. Smilies, video chat, microphone use, file transfer, all that stuff. You can find out more:

    http://dashboard.aim.com/aim (AIM, which is AOL's messenger)
    http://www.icq.com/download/ (ICQ, another one)

    It's Yahoo messenger, same as MSN messenger, where you can talk to other people and join chat rooms.

    oh, i`ve been hearing about these things too. but i doubt advertising through instant messengers...be it, yahoo or msn would be much effective.
