Over the past year I've had a #1 ranking for my keyterm. Well this was up until last month. Then Yahoo! just dropped me from their index. Now Yahoo! has been bombing my site. Almost 80k hits over the past few months, yet they've completely dropped me form there rankings... I receive ZERO hits from them since the beginning of November. Think I should be getting my ranking back soon ?
For me, Yahoo! has been VERY unpredictable at the moment. I have a site that was ranking at #2 on a VERY competitive keyword for quite some time. It disappeared all of a sudden. The site pages started to drop from their index. I thought I have been delisted. But it came back at #5 and things seemed to get better. After a few weeks, it got to #30 and remained there for about a month or so. Now, it is ranking at #1 and I'm hoping that it will stay there for a bit longer than before.
Yes, it seems the rank of your site is floating, So that more site will have the chance to be click. Do you think so?
See this too, will get good ranking, then they just drop. They do come back at somepoint, but usually drop again.
Best thing you can do is to stop threating Yahoo as a solid source of visitors. To many problems with index. They are not reliable at all. Looks like Y index have serious issues since july 19.
The same thing happens to me with MSN. They're pretty much the same in my opinion, except MSN counts all backlinks unlike yahoo.
Yahoo search listings are mainly based on your contents and don't worry about your link popularity. With good SE practices and targeting moderately searched keywords, you should be able regain your position.
I am only using the coop network on a site that has never rated in Yahoo but last week all the related terms I can think of have shot up, most of them are on the first page.
Yahoo was sending some 50 visitors a day and late October it dropped to 1 or 2 a day. Last week it resumed sending visitors but up to 200 a day now. It's very exciting but for how long it'll last? I didn't make modification to my site, just added few articles.
The addition of articles counts as fresh new contents. Perhaps Yahoo is putting some more weight on that!?
It is true, yahoo is more focused in create content or services to gain a lot of money and the search engine algorithm is secondary to them ... :-o I say it because I dont rank very well at yahoo ... :-o I speak in spanish market of course ... :-o
Not sure what's up, but a site under construction (literally that's all the site says) is ranks #5 for my main (highly searched) keyword...
Apparently Yahoo is really updating its search algorithm and the like. why else should it rank an unfinished website?
Yahoo can't figure out how to get rid of spammy sites. Anyway the traffic just doesn't cut it for me.
My opinion is yahoo search really fell apart a few months ago. Google=better at most searches. MSN=better at a few searches, i.e. new sites/pages, longer search strings. Yahoo=better at ................what?
