This really doesn't make sense to me... I mean, do they want to make money here or what? I started a new campaign last week and it has been working great for me. I mean one of the better campaigns I have ever had. The best part? The niche was not really touched... maybe 5 other sites to fight against. So anyway, this campaign has a 7.6% CTR since it started. And then I log in to my account today and get: "Inactive Increase quality or bid $0.10 to activate " I was hitting the top 2 spots with a 5 cent bid. And now they want me to increase the quality?? What do they want me to do, create an ad that comes through the computer and makes someone dinner? Seriously. And before anyone asks, it doesn't look like any of the other sites I am up against have made any changes. I know it's just 10 cents, but that's double what I was paying with a top spot.
He's hitting the top 2 spots with .05, I doubt it's that. Are they bidding .02 and getting a 21% ctr? Honestly it could be everything and anything. I tried to figure out why ads would go inactive and after analyzing just about anything I could, I realized it could be anything and not one set thing. I'm convinced it's an algorithm that tries to hit you up for as much money as it thinks it can.
I totally agree. I changed my bid to 10 cents and I was back up top. An hour later I changed it back to 5 cents... 12 hours later it's just fine.
I think it's a bit more complex that than that...but that's just me I bid on thousands and thousands of keywords and it's a rare, rare event when I actually just up a bid to get the keyword reactivated.
im having such problems too. But oh well Google is our boss.....we play with their rules with no question answered
When you have a lot of keywords which go "inactive" over night try to move them to a new ad group. They usually get re-activated without having to bid higher.
I'm not sure what's wrong with Google, but I have a strange suspicion that Google AdCopy Writers is soon going to be a profession (if it isn't already!).
Just go with a max bid of $12 dollars like me and you wont get any keywords inactive.... J/k just go to the .10 most likely you will get # 1 for sure then and get an even higher ctr which will lower your average cpc back to the original #'s... Hope that helps... Its worked many times over for me...
Bidding $12 is ok, but not if you would the 2nd position. Here I have the same problems, good CTR but still need to bid higher. Nog explaination from Google about the rules of the quality score. For many customers I would prefer the old situation of minimum 0,5% CTR!
You may think you have a "good" CTR but without being able compare it directly to that of your competition you don't know for sure that your CTR is "good." All things are relative
