my site recieves one or two clicks per every 500 visitors. my ads are relevant to the content and it is blended in... but what's wrong with it? http://obscuresound.com any suggestions on colors or placement would definitely be very appreciated. thanks! -Mike
Some subjects just don't attract people who click on ads. Is music one of them? What ctr do similar sites attract?
Ads look good to me. I would have to agree with sarahk as far as your audience just may not be interested. You could try adding images above or next to your ads. Some people have had good success with that. Other than that I have no real good advice. Sorry
2 things: 1) I'd try to make the ad links red (the same color as your header). As of now they blend it too much and I think you'd better if they stand out some. 2) why not make your header image not as high (shrink it vertically)? If you do, you might be able to display 2 ad units above the fold
You could try a horizontal ad link unit "inside" the banner. Usually this gives good results. I agree with sarahk: maybe your audience doesn't like to click ads. In this case you should try to use less ad units.
contristo- It looks to me that you are offering mp3's on your site, and by the wording, I'm assuming you do not own the copyright to these mp3's. (I don't know for sure- I did not click the links) Just cautioning you that if you do not have the right to offer these for free, you are violating adsense tos/policies and you are risking being banned. From adsense policies: https://www.google.com/adsense/policies Copyrighted Material In order to avoid associations with copyright claims, website publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results.
Don't know where your traffic is coming from, but if it's coming from search engines where people are seaching for specific bands or groups, the Adsense ads that I saw on your site won't be of any interest to them. It's important to know who is coming to your site, how they got there, and what they're looking for. Only then will you understand why they click (or don't click) on your ads.
really? hm, well that sucks. music is my only real interest I could make a site about. I have no clue what else to make a site on. the clicks are raising a bit after I turned the link color to red. now instead of 2 clicks per 500 hits, I seem to be averaging about 8 clicks per 500 hits. if only I knew what did well on adsense.
yeah. people come there just looking for new music samples. I have labels e-mail me songs, and I post them by the way, with a proper buy link on the bottom. 93% of my hits are links from other music blogs. the rest are from google. people just come here looking for new music and musical insight, I guess that its just that music sites don't do well ($1/day)
Well, if you have no other interests, put up 20 , 50 , or even 100 different music sites (variations, not all identical) and see that $1/day rise exponentially. Try a country site, a deathkore site, a latin pop site, etc.
