Depending on who you talk to the answer is either yes or no. Many of the sites I’ve visited that talk about link wheels say that their good for a short boost in traffic and rankings, but in the long term your site will be penalized or worse, banned from big search engines such as Google. Others argue that this is basically duplicate content and that those who use link wheels are essentially creating spam on the internet that deceives visitors.
Google isn't stupid. Articles and web2 link wheels are ok for getting an initial bit of link juice for a website, but if you want to rank in Google for a comppetitive niche/keyword such as supplements, dating, etc, you need to have high quality content that website owners will want to link to. Sometimes I get frustrated at how many people would apparently put more work into link building than actually creating worthwhile content. PS - If you insist on making a link wheel, there are THOUSANDS of web2 sites out there where users can generate content, with backlinks etc. Using only the obvious ones such as Squidoo and Hubpages is like flagging yourself for Google.
