What is web 2.0?

Hello,

I'm a newbie to website design, I heard a new word "web 2.0".. does anybody know whats it meaning exactly?

I'll sum it up for you - Web 2.0 is over.

Back 10 years ago, websites used to be simple pages that you were written by one person, and that was it. You could read it and then move on.

After a while, people found out ways that users could modify the pages, so Web 2.0 is the second generation of the internet. Comments, wikis, personal profiles, blogs, forum software instead of newsgroups. Web 2.0 is here, and has been here for a long time.

Web 3.0 is what's currently emerging, and it is full-scale transparency betwen the destkop and the internet - Adobe Air is a Web 3.0 application and the future of things to come. with web 3.0 it's not just collaboration between people on a site via the internet, but collaboration between sites on the internet. Facebook connect and openID are examples - many site you can go log in with one ID and you've already got a profile.

 

Web *.0 is a fad, a buzzword at best. Ignore it like the plague.

* meaning any number.

New technologies are appearing online all the time... But they're not related in the slightest to terms such as web 2.0 or even web 3.0.

what are we doing now is web 2,0. we send posts to this forums and determine the shape of it.
