What is VPS hosting

    Could somebody explain me what VPS hosting is and how it's different from shared and dedicated hosting.

    AFAIK, it is like dedicated hosting but it is just in virtualized environment.

    I guess others here can provide more detailed technical information about VPS hosting.

    VPS hosting is a server that runs 24/7 and you get remote access to it via Remote Desktop connections.

    Maybe you know VMware Workstation?!
    It is quite like the same. The Hoster has a big Server with a prof. software like VMware Workstation. The Hoster creates now "virtual" servers and sell them as VPS (VirtualPrivatServer) So the Server acts like a normal Server but it is a virtual machine running on a big server!
