What is Value of Outbound links in SEO?

    I know in SEO that inbound links is more important. Or shall I state they put
    a lot of importance but what I wanted to know is Do outbound links really
    important in terms of SEO?

    Link out to sites which are of value to your visitors. Don't think about it in terms of SEO.

    The actual external link will not help directly, what it will do is start a relationship with other sites and hopefully some will link back. So indirectly yes it will help.

    Outbound links does helps the PR, it helps to decrease the value of the PR. The more the Outbound links the more link juice you are losing and hence the less the value of the PR.

    I think outbound link has lesser importance because you control on it, however for a database driven site you can not just ignore it.

    I think that if you link out to governing bodies, authorative sites etc you are saying to Google that you belong to in these industries and you maybe rewarding in trust and theme.

    Unless the content is public interest or relevant to authority site, I don't think the outbound links pointed to Government/authority site will help you much, on the contrary you are going to pass the link juice to them.
